Meet Sparky

Hey everyone, Lex and I have a new travel buddy! His name is Sparky. We found him on the new pier in Gulf Shores,Al. I guess some child dropped him and he was just laying n the pier with sand in his face and tears in his eyes. I picked him up, brushed him off and we addopted him. You will be seeing a lot of him in the future because he sits at the front of the rig and looks out the window. He's always ready to travel when we are............

2009 Louisiana Wooden Boat Festival

WOW! One of our favorite festivals down here in "Cajun Country". It's packed with great foods, (not the healthy kind) wonderful arts and crafts from the locals and believe me they are talented, artsy people down here! The big event however is all the classic old sail boats that are docked all along the bank of the Tchefuncte River. (can you pronounce that?) These are large sail boats that have been preserved or restored and are really awesome vessels! One of the fun events is the "Quick 'N Dirty boat building event. It's made up of 10 teams, 4 young guys to a team, that have 24 hours to build a little boat that they can row up the river and under the bridge and hope it doesn't sink. Sometimes it does and they have to send the seadoos out to pick them up. This is a fun, family event that I am sure everyone would enjoy. If you would like to check it out more you can go to the website:

Tennessee Trip - More Fun !

Sometimes we go to Tennessee especially to see family but always when we go for any reason we get to visit with as many as possible while we are there. This time we stayed one night with Rita (baby sister) and one night with Vickie & Ray. Out on the farm! We had a house full Sunday for dinner but there were a few missing, as usual. It would be impossible to get everyone there. But there always lots of kids and that's the special thing for me. We have 2 new ones in our family. (both Vickie's and Ray's of course) I got to meet the newest baby boy, Solomon. He adorable like all our kids! It was a wonderful visit but as usual not long enough for me. We came home with lots of goodies from Ray's garden. I swear the best tomatoes I have ever tasted!!! We are still enjoying them. And all that canning my sister does would kill me but I'm sure glad she does it! I am going to hate it when I run out of her pickeled banana peppers! Well, so much for Tennessee. We leave Wednesday morning for Portland, Or. to visit with Mark, Eric and Mitch. I'm sure you will hear all about it when we get back. See ya

LHS 50th Class Reunion

September 5th was the 50th reunion of my graduating class in Lebanon, Tennessee. It is an event that I truly look forward to each time we have it. It is an opportunity to visit with old friends and catch up with all the news from my home town. This year was no disappointment. We had a great attendance considering the size of our class. We had a prayer for the classmates that were no longer with us and for others that were ill and unable to attend. Dinner was great and I thought well planned. I know Lex liked it and he's a "food critic". LOL. I think we all enjoyed the entertainment. Our songbirds not only still sounded great but maybe even better! Of course they have been practicing for 54 years!! I told Ed Lasater that he was dong really good. Not only did he still have his voice but his HAIR too! All in all I thought we each one looked pretty good (some better then others) for a bunch of old people. Here are just a few pictures. Lex and Me and the singers.

ERIC'S VISIT

Eric got here from Portland,Or May 5th. We had decided to visit the family in Tennessee. We left almost immediately from the airport. Lex and I had been packing the motor home for a couple of days. We gotto Tenn. on Friday about 4 pm. We stayed at the KOA near Opryland. Saturday we all went to Ray's & Vickie's for a good ole family cook-out. Almost everyone was there. We missed Mitch,Mark, John, Michael, Rachel, Neil and boys and also Jason. I guess we missed Mom most of all. But we had a great time and we have 2 new babies on the way. I know they will both be beautiful and pray they will both be healthy! I took lots of pictures. More then I have space for but I have chosen a few that I wanted to show. One is a shot of Lex in Ray's Golf Cart. He was trying to get away from all the kids for awhile and when he headed for the cart they all jumped in with him. We all laughed! We got back to Mississippi on Sunday evening which gave me one day to enjoy Eric's visit all by myself before he had to go home. But it was a great visit. Would have been even better if Mitch and Mark had been here too.

Spring in Mississippi

Wow! Everything blooming in Mississippi! Just have to show off my beautiful Amarillo's. Also my climbing Yellow Rose. This amarillo was a christmast gift from my friend Glenna in Tennessee three years ago. I planted it in a large pot and now there are 3 ! The yellow rose came from a cutting of one in the back yard. Just stuck it in the ground. That was 2 years ago. Do I have a green thumb of what?

Friends on Wheels

As many of you may or may not know..Lex and I are in a camping club called "Friends on Wheels". We camp once a month at some campground within 100 miles or less from our homes. There are about 20 or 22 rigs involved and usually have at least 75% attendance. Our camping consist of shopping, eating out, playing table games, potluck dinners together and just sitting around having fun doing nothing. Usually there is a campfire somewhere if it's not too hot. We don't know what "roughing it" is unless it might be no cable hook-ups! Our camp-out for march was in Fairhope, Al.
They had an "Arts & Crafts" Festival in progress that weekend. You can believe we all went and spent the day. We went to a great seafood resturant one night and we cooked out one nite at the RV park. I usually catch up on some reading too. Anyway I have some pictures of our great group that I want to share.

Cruising to Mexico

We are back from our great cruise. What a great time we had. We sailed out of Mobile on Carnival's Holiday. A small ship of only 10 floors and a 1400 person capacity. The oldest of Carnival's fleet. They told us that they were retiring it in August and replacing it with the Fantasy. We have been on that ship and it's beautiful and huge. Anyway, there were 2 other couples with us. We went to Cosumel, and Calico Mexico. Did a little shopping, got a little sun, enjoyed some great entertainment and of course ate too much! One thing for sure you won't get hungry on a cruise. I had one Margaretta in Cosumel and it was one too many. I did a little entertaining of my own that afternoon. But no harm done. Lex was there to watch out for me. There are lots of photos taken when you cruise. We had one taken on "Captain's Night". I think it turned out pretty good, considering......I'll let you be the judge. Got to run because we are leaving Monday for Pensacola, Fl. then to Alabama for a camp-out and I've got laundry to do. Later

IT'S MARDI GRAS TIME

Yep, Mardi Gras is here in full swing on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Parades every weekend everywhere. Beads are flying and people begging "Mister throw me something". And they do.
We here at the Brame house usually have visitors, mostly from Tennessee to check it out and take back as many colorful beads as possible! Usually it's someone from my side of the family and I have missed them terribly this year but this year Lex's cousin Cindy, her daughter Catherine from Franklin came. Also the twins, Abby and Ben. They are the children of Lex's cousin Thomas and Missy from Laurel Ms. I have pictures on the way and will post them by next week hopefully. They had a really good time I think and I had fun just watching them. Weather was wonderful too. It's always just "Sunshine and Blue Skys" around here. Well, everyone has gone home now and it's too quiet around here. All the guest rooms are cleaned and ready for company. Call for reservations anytime! (oh, except between march 9 thru 14. We are going on a Cruise!)

Welcome to My World!

Well everyone else is blogging so I thought I would also. I am not sure just what a "blog" is but I decided to do it anyway. Seems like it's a good way to stay in touch. I sure enjoy looking at Shana's and Rachel's Blog. I am finally able to be a part of their lives via computer. Hopefully I will have some good stories and pictures to share also. Lex and I are looking at motor homes. We have one but we want another one. We are looking at the ones that have slids. We have seen some really pretty ones. They have everything. One day we hope to be able to sell everything and just "ride around" and see the country and visit with our kids too. That is if our 401K has any money left in it by then! If we buy one I will be sure to post a photo of it.........Mardi-Gras is here again and the first parade was today. We didn't go but there will be many more between now and "Fat Tuesday". Mardi-Gras is lots of fun on the coast. I already have lots and lots of beads from past parades but seems there is never enough! Just let me know if you need any. I look forward to opening a small window to our world down here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast!

About Me

We live on the Ms. Gulf Coast now but my roots and many special memories are in Tenessee where we raised our 2 sons. (Who now live in Oregon) It's where most of my family is and my special friends. I sold real estate there for 20 years. Now I am retired and my new husband of 13 years live on the coast. He has a son and daughter in Texas and we try to go a couple times a year to Oregon and Texas. Lex and I are blessed with great kids, good health & a good life!
