What's New...........

What isn't? As you know I got a new scan in June. Wasn't the best but not the worst either. Have started on a couple new Chemo drugs and as of today have had my
2nd treatmet. My white blood count was low last week so Mr. Dr. has decided to give me a shot to give that a boast. I guess that's good. Only thing I have to go back 24 hours after my treatment which means I have to give up another day to this thing.
But I am doing well on it. Staying a little tired but she says that's norman after having so much chemo pumped into my system.....So that's enough of that. On to better things. Lex and I got a new convrtable. We like it. Crystler Seabring. Beautiful Diamond Blue. We can pull it behind the motor home too.

July 2010 Cancer Update - New PET Scan

Lex and I met with my Onocologist on Wednesday of this week. The news was not what we wanted to hear but actually came as no big surprise because my tumor marker has been going back up for the past month. It seemes that the Chemo that has been working so well has lost it's power. You know cancer cells are smart and will fight anything in their way. We knew this but were hoping for at least 8 or 9 months of success instead of only 6 months. However, fortunately there are other drugs for this and I will be starting on 2 of them on the 26th of July. I will have them 2 weeks in a row and and skip a week. I don't know how these drugs will effect me yet but my Dr. says they should be the same as before as far as sickness or how I feel. As of now I continue to feel good almost everyday other then a little tired sometimes but that too passes. Lex and I still go like always for the most part. He is always here for me to pick up the slack. "God Bless him" because he IS a God send. Please,we still need the prayers from all of you because I know he is listening.

What's new in Sue's World ?

Yes, It is my world. Someone asked me the other day "what about Lex"? My answer was Lex is very much in my world. He's my best friend, lover & Soal Mate. Also in my world are our kids, Eric & Mitch, Mark, Anthony & Amy, Bridget & Neil. Both of our sisters, brothers and my Mother-in-Law who is so special to me. Also a slue of Nieces, Nephews, great Niece and great nephews that I will not even begin to name.
However I do know all the names and birthdays too. And I cannot forget so many special friends, some that I have had for more years then I care to say. My life has been blessed much more then I believe I deserve but I am thankful for that anyway. So this is what "Sue's World is all about. The People in my life that make my life complete. .................Now, All that said I can do some catch up on what's been going on in "My World" I guess No.1 is this cancer thing. Chemo is going well for me. My Tumor marker is now 82. That's down from my last entry but up a little from last month. My Dr. says that's normal. Chemo is not hard to do. It takes about 3 hours for everything. Blood work, Dr. time and the actual chemo. I "boogie in and I "boogie out". I have met lots of really nice people and we have a good time sitting there in our caps and wigs with a tube in our "ports". It used to be really quiet when I first started going but I changed that! Now we are talking, exchanging recipes, and of course now we are discussing the OIL SPILL and why the President isn't down here every day cleaning up the oil and leaving all the rest of the world's problems to the Vice President. After all what else does A "Vice" President have to do?...........As for what Lex and I have been doing in "My" world I hardly know where to start. We went to the Big Flee Market in Texas a couple weeks ago. It's in Clinton, Tx. about 60 miles south of Dallas. We met Lex's daughter & husband who live in Waco, Tx. We stayed at the coolest little Resort in a cute cottage. This flee market happens every month so if you ever want to go I will be glad to tell you where to stay. We didn't buy very much (I bought a new wig of course) but we all rented scooters and had a ball! We did a lot of walking too and ate a lot of food that wasn't good for us! Last weekend we stayed at the Fabulous Beau Rivage Hotel/Casino in Biloxi. 16Th floor overlooking the Gulf. We dined on Crab Legs, Prime Rib & the wonderful New Orleans Bread Pudding W/Whisky sauce. Won a little money too! Even Lex won which is VERY unusual! This week we are in Robertsdale, Al. in the motor home. Robertsdale is between Gulf Shores and Pensacola. Lex is working and I'm playing. Our camping club will be here for the latter part of thes week and weekend. There should be about 15-18 rigs here. We have around 30 in the club but not everyone comes every month especally during the summer. So it will be another week of going out to eat, shopping, playing dominos & poker. We always have a devotional every Sunday Morning before everyone leaves. Pretty special. Well, this should do for now. Good Lord willing there should be more later. This motor home loves to travel and we like to go with it. God Bless you all. Please remember me in your prayers. I have you in mine. I know Prayer works because it's working for me. I am so blessed to have all of ALL in my life!

APRIL UPDATE FOR MY WORLD

Well, Thanks to Face Book I am really behind on my Blog page. This page is so important to me though because I try to keep it just for very special people in my life. Plus I don't get get comments from the "whole world" Any way, lots has happened in the past couple of months since the Cruise that was so much fun. We have been on a few camp-outs with our club plus Lex and I spent one week, just us, on Dalphin Island, Al. It was a beautiful week with lots of sun and a little wind. We did a camp-out with the group at "Little Black Creek" in Lumberton, Ms.. however the little black creek is beautiful fishing lake. The campsites were private, shady and large. We really enjoyed it. Next stop was Nashville, Tn. and my scheduled trip to Vanderbilt for my CT Scan. This is how they measure my cancer cells. Seems they are more then half gone for now and my Dr. is pleased at how my body is responding to the Chemo. My last Tumor marker shows 112.8 which has made Lex and Me very happy. (to put it mildly). Also for that trip I was honored by by High School friends (over 40 of them) for a breakfast. We are such a special class I think and I am so proud that we seem to care so much for each other. I Love them all! In Tennessee we stayed at my sister, Vickie's in Alexanderia, Tn.. They have a beautiful farm with horses, cows and even wild deer. Since Sunday was my birthday she and my family gave me a birthday dinner. 37 people in my family came and even though I was very sick with bronchitis and had to go to the ER the night before it was still a great birthday! We left for home on Sunday night and finally made it home Tuesday afternoon. I ended up in the ER again that night and they kept me for 24 hours. I think I am going to be ok anyday now. LOL. Lex and I know that we are doing good because of all the prayers that we are getting from people that love us. Please do not forget us when you pray because we appreciate it we need it.

SPECIAL THANKS TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS

Now that I have put my Cancer in writing and everyone knows the details and the medical part I need to mention the personal part. I don't have room on this Blog to name all the family menbers, special friends, churches and Lex's coworkers praying for us and asking God to watch over me. Money cannot buy these special blessings.
To my Brothers and Sisters, their spouses, children and grandchldren that joined me at My Mom's church that first Sunday in Nashville to hold my hand pray with me and and suport me. As I watched then come in and take their seats next to me my heart swelled. There were 17 of them.
The 13 very special friends from Lebanon High School (Class of '59) that took me to Lunch, prayed for me and gave me love and hope. I love you all so very much. You can't know how much it meant to me.
The men and women in our camping group, "Friends on Wheels" are all praying for Lex and me. Thank you for your calls, emails and cards.
One friend from the coast that lives in Florida now, sends me a card every day.(I feel like I should send her postage.) Thank you Pam.

You call often, email and post great pictures of your lives in Oregon and Texas so that we feel like we are there in person. (And Mark, I will see you the 26th.and be ready to sail!)

My Cancer is back (after 27 years)

I know this is not news to any of my readers because I was diagnosed before Thanksgiving. However I have put off putting it in print on my Blog but decided I needed to do it now. Many weeks have gone by and much has happened. My diagnosis is Breast Cancer, stage 4. They determined that it was estrogen fed and I started with a pill to stop the estrogen. After 2 months they said the pill wasn't working so I have started Chemo. I am now in my 5 week. I started at Vanderbilt and am now taking my treatments in Mississippi. At Vanderbilt they put a "port" in my chest for my blood work and meds. It works just fine and I don't have to let all those nurses butcher up my arm because they can't find a vain. I have tolerated the chemo very well I think. I have not been sick at all but sometimes after a couple of days I get a little tired.
I have however lost all my hair and had to go wig shopping. I had fun with that but I still wear a baseball cap most of the time. I found a wig that looked just like my real hair. I also bought a blond one (just for fun). Also for fun I tried on a gray one and Lex took a picture and I sent it to my Boys for a reaction. Eric said I was freaking him out! Anyway I am putting a picture of me in all my many faces. You can vote on them if you like.

About Me

We live on the Ms. Gulf Coast now but my roots and many special memories are in Tenessee where we raised our 2 sons. (Who now live in Oregon) It's where most of my family is and my special friends. I sold real estate there for 20 years. Now I am retired and my new husband of 13 years live on the coast. He has a son and daughter in Texas and we try to go a couple times a year to Oregon and Texas. Lex and I are blessed with great kids, good health & a good life!
